I know oatmeal is a healthy snack that many bodybuilders eat. I have always been a fan of oatmeal, including instant oatmeal. From this forum, I have heard it mentioned that instant oatmeal shouldn't be eaten. Anyone know why? I try not to eat it but I sometimes make it if I'm in a hurry. _________________ Love many, trust few, do harm to none - Yau man |

I watched a video of a pro bodybuilders pre contest prep which included him eating two packs of instant oatmeal and 12 egg whites. The only concern brought up to him was the sugar carbs in the oatmeal, he said that little bit of sugar didn't matter.... so I guess the issue is the sugar added... he ate the maple and brown sugar variety of the oatmeal. Oh and by the way he won the competition. He was doing the typical things... cardio in the morning before food and hard training. _________________

Ah thanks Big Eddy. I always wondered what the issue with instant oatmeal was. It all makes sense now. Actually the maple and brown sugar flavour is my favourite by far. _________________ Love many, trust few, do harm to none - Yau man |

Cream of wheat is a hot breamfast cereal invented in the last 1800s. In stead of being rolled oats as in oatmeal it is madeup of ground wheat. There is also a rice based one called Cream of rice. For nutrition content of it go to www.nutritiondata.com. That website goes into extreme detail of almost anything. Oatmeal tastes way better I think. _________________ Handle everything like a Dog

| I've always heard that instant oatmeal is processed more than regular, which is reason enough for a bodybuilder to steer away from it. I just use regular...pour hot water in it, let it sit a minute, stir and eat. The convenience of instant, the nutritional value of regular. Not quite the same consistency as instant, but it's edible. |
