I have never had any injuries to my ankles before, or any that feel like this one I guess, so I'm not sure what to call it, but I will explain what happened, and how it feels.
Today I went to work in the woods, cutting trees. The job involved one person with a chain saw, one person with a tractor hawling the trees out, and me, moving brush, and hooking up chains. The person driving the tractor seemed kind of impatient. There was one moment, that I was standing on a tree, about 3 feet up, and he was taking off. I had to get out of the way quickly, so I tried to jump to what looked like a safe spot. But the moss covering this "safe spot" sunk in, and I rolled my left ankle to the left.
After this happened, I took a little break, but didn't want the people I was working with to think I was lazy. And also, one of the people, said if I could walk on it it should be ok. So I was walking, trying to avoiding letting my ankle move to the left, and it rolled the opposite way... to the right. So at that time, I gave up and went and sat in the truck. But the person I was working with was still not convinced there were any injuries.
After I finally got home, I went to take a shower, to see that my left ankle had swollen to be about twice the size of my right ankle. And it really hurts to walk on it. If my ankle is completely straight when I walk it's no unbearable, but if it bends the slightest bit, I can feel it cracking, and I can feel it hurting.
I'm wondering first of all, what this is? Rolled? Sprained? And secondly, how long I can expect it to be swollen and sore, and how to treat it for fastest recovery? |

Agreed, get it looked at immediately. I sprained my ankle when I was 12 and I still remember the pain. _________________ Love many, trust few, do harm to none - Yau man |

Ice it down, stay off of it and go see a doctor. Play it safe. I got bad knees from the war and now i make sure that i use my knee wraps whenever i train legs. STILL fighting with the VA to get them fixed and compensated. _________________ It don't feel good till it hurts!! |

| Go see the doctor. Do you have walk in clinics where you live? Let us know how your ankle is when you get a chance. |

I didn't go to the doctor specifically for my ankle, but I accompanied some people to the doctor, and asked them about what I can do.
It wasn't surprising to me, that they didn't give me very much information that I didn't know already. So since last Saturday, I've been resting. Each day, stretching, and lightly twisting my ankle to regain flexibility, and to see how bad it was hurting that day. Now, it still has a little pain when I stretch it in that correct direction, but since I injured it, I can feel myself going downhill again. Going to bed later, and not looking as good. So tomorrow I'm going to get to it again. I'm extremely motivated, and even though I'll still have to take it easy on the leg exercises, I want to really try to make up for that lost week.
So soon, I will post more in the journal section on how I'm doing. |
