How has everyone been doing? What type of summer training programs are you all following? I am following a fat burning routine right now. It consists of a lot of basketball drills, since they are fun cardio. I am also doing sprints across the beach, and bodyweight exercises. Every 2 or 3 days my brother and I do a high intensity, low set weight lifting routine consisting of trisets. We do around 6 sets per body part right now. We'll increase it as we get better at it.. but it definitely gives me a pump, and makes me sweat. For a diet, I am sticking to 3 meals a day. Lots of protein, large salad for meal #2, no white bread, no potatoes, no junk food, you know how it is ... and lots of water.
Hope to hear from you guys. Been a while since I talked to any of you. |

| Also, I've been thinking about picking up a container of glutamine.. so I can hopefully retain as much muscle as possible. |

Hello. Just stopping in to say Kevin I can't find you on facebook... where did you go? I was just showing Mom my friends that I have on facebook that I met here on schwarzenegger.ca .. Even though I haven't actually met you guys, I consider the ones that were really around during the do as many posts as you can contests and favorite bodybuilder discussions good friends of mine. And now the only one I can talk with anymore is "Longhaul".. and I do find talking on your wall humoring, but I am being serious.
I'm going to look up the message I got from you, "K-OS" and find the forums that you said you visit now. I would like to do that a little from time to time just for fun. Not really looking for advice because someone is likely to say something is wrong about my 1200-1500 calorie diet, or my current training methods... but I'm doing my own experiments on myself and writing it in a journal, so someday I will no the benefits of many workouts.
I went to the doctor about a month ago and got put on an Anti-depressant called Effexor. It really picked me up, and helped provide me with the ambition to get going again. I am going to continue to take them, with whatever douse... until the doctor tells me to stop. Usually I don't listen to the doctors, but I'm going to give him a chance. When I first went to the doctor I weighed 303... my blood pressure was good, the nurses said, so that was one benefit. But I told Mom that as soon as I go on these pills, I was going to try to start losing weight. For the first month, I didn't do much exercise. Mom and I moved, that is all I did for added exercise other then chores. I went back to the doctor 4 weeks later. (What they call a month.. but today is the 1 month point. So 4 weeks later I weighed myself, and I weighed 285. I even at breakfast.
I am eating some protein when I get really sore, but since fat loss is my focus, I'm not worried about 1 gram/pound. I know I will lose some muscle.. and I have. But the first priority absolutely needs to be losing the fat. I know how to build muscle, and it will probably be more fun to build muscle when I have a low enough fat level to see some gains. I know it is going to to be a long time before I am at the point that I want to be at, and I know that I am not going to get results overnight like I used to look for with 100's of crunches and walking for hours. But that didn't give me the overnight result I wanted. Instead I would be too sore to walk for a few days. Overwork is definitely a setback. Now since I am at my second 4 week period of fat loss, I am going to add in a 1500 meter walk every other day. I am also going to do a bodyweight workout 3-5 days a week depending on how I feel, but no more then 5 days. For my workout, I do as many pushups as I can... but I do them as slowly as I can, I go down till my chest is about an inch off the ground, then I go up till my elbows are locked out. Last night I was only able to 5 for the first set. Then I thought of the idea that if I couldn't do more than 5.. the reason is I can't push back off the ground. So I decided to do the next set with "forced negatives". So after 1 set of push ups, I then go on to crunches. I only do 1 set. I make sure I can feel every rep. I do 25 lying on my back.. then I alternate elbows and do crunches while touching my right elbow to my left knee then left elbow to right knee for a total of 20. After that I will do as many more crunches that I can do... then try to holding myself in place with the goal of touching my knees in crunch position for as long as I can. The next exercise is side crunches. For these I lay on my side, and although I do try to feel every rep to make sure I'm hitting my obliques instead of something else, I try to do them fast. I know you can't spot reduce while burning fat, but I don't want to build too much muscle on the obliques and I have done side bends holding weights so I'm just going to stick to reps for oblique crunches now. The last Ab exercise that I do are leg raises. I try to hit my abs from every angle. I do these strictly to make sure I feel them also, and I try to use a full range of motion... as far back as I can go without using momentum. After doing a few normal ones I go from side to side. It's difficult that way, but I still feel it working. After all these I do an exercise that feels relaxing but it's actually helping... Laying stomach vacuums. After this I do one more set of slow pushups then I'm done. Doesn't seem like much, but it works my chest, shoulders, triceps, some of my back, and it really helps with stabilizer muscles if you are doing controlled reps. The ab exercise works my neck and the back of my legs some. And the walking works my legs and shed the fat. I think it's a good beginning fat burning workout. So my goal for this month is 25+ pounds. Wish me luck
Sorry for writing an essay. Tell me what your facebook, myspace, bodyspace, or what forums or you on? I'd really like to hear from you. See ya. |

Forgot to add in... I know I wrote a whole book how could there be anymore?
I was going to add in some of the main things I look for and some of the main things that I am avoiding in my diet. This is for Just in case someone I don't know that needs information of fat loss is viewing this. I doubt they are because of the title.. but since it's the most recent post they might.
So here are the bad things first that I avoid:
Potatoes, white pasta, white rice, most sauces... I use a little Soy sauce (black stuff they put on rice.. not sure of spelling.), I don't use any BBQ sauce. A1 I used to use some... but I don't have any, so I won't be using it. Not that I've been eating anything that needs BBQ sauce. Also Ketchup I stay away from. The most healthy condiment that people can put on their hamburgers is mustard. Although I haven't had hamburgers either, I thought I'd mention that for those that like hamburgers and are willing to use low fat beef, or turkey beef with whole wheat buns. Also, no candy, very little chocolate.. maybe 1 oreo cooking per week just to feel human. I try to eat as little Saturated fat, and as little sugar as possible, and the same is with starch. I also avoid trans fat. Experts say that Peas and Corn is similar to potatoes in the way of having a lot of starch, but I have 1 cups of peas or corn every 2 or 3 days. A lot of cereals are unhealthy, but a lot are also very healthy. I haven't experimented with cherrios yet, but it says on the box that they are good for the heart, and the same is with wheaties, or shredded wheat. But I am currently eating raisin bran with raspberries in it.. but I think I finished it off today... wonder if I have any more bran cereal. Before the raisin bran I ate Fiber 1. I am sure many people don't like Fiber 1, but I think it was the best thing in my diet with 1 or 2 packages or Sweet and Low on top. I heard that stuff causes cancer.. but doesn't everything? Fiber 1 had around 1 g of fiber per serving. And fiber is a main thing I look for. It seems like if it has a lot of fiber, it's healthy. After I ran out of the Fiber 1, I put raspberries in the raisin bran because 1 cup of raspberries has 9g of fiber in it, and 1 cup of raisin bran has 4g.. so thats almost as much as I was getting with fiber 1. Now that the bran is gone, I will be eating oatmeal with sweetener and 1% milk in it. Tonight I will use the rest of my raspberries in Yogurt, which is what I use to defeat my unhealthy cravings, so tomorrow morning I will have to put blueberries in my oatmeal. Blueberries have only around 40% of the fiber that raspberries have, so I won't be getting as much fiber, but blueberries are full of anti oxidants so that will be a new experiment.
I also like to eat Tuna, eggs, broccoli and carrots. They are my favorite things to eat during my diet. For the eggs and tuna.. I put the eggs in the mic for 90 seconds.. then mix in the tuna for another 90 seconds then put salt and pepper in it. For broccoli, I put the carrots in first since I don't freeze them, then I put either carrots, corn, or mixed vegetables (meant for stir frys.) I know the microwave takes away a lot of nutrients. But we won't have a stove for a few more days.. but after I get one, I have a pot to steam my vegetables with. But anyways.. after I'm done microwaving.. this is where I get my fat. I put a tablespoon or so of Olive Oil in it. Well I have to log, got company. But I really like talking to you guys, and want to. |
