Ok, it's been a while since i've posted any of my workouts and i have some time and hit a couple good milestones this morning so i'll post todays workout. Hopefully i'll keep on track from now on. Since i'm bulking , my diet is rich in protein and carbs. It consists of a lot of oatmeal, egg whites, chicken and beef as well as veggies when i get them.
Today was Quads:
Warm up with three sets of light leg extensions
Leg Press:
Wound up hitting 990 lbs. for 3 reps after 1 warm up set and 4 other working sets
Hack squats: Hit 590 for 2 reps after one warm up set and three working sets
Leg extensions: one set of 15 @ 220lbs. , one set of 12 @ 230 , one set of 10 @ 240 , one set of 8 @ 250 , one set of 6 @ 260.
Hip abductors: 3 sets with the stack @ 12 reps
Hip aductors (not sure of the exact name, but the opposite movement of abductors lol) : 3 sets with the stack @ 15
20 minutes of moderate cardio.
I should also point out that , due to my age, experience and desire for safety and my not so great knees, i always use knee wraps when going this heavy. I would LIKE to do free squats, but with my poor balance and my knees , i really prefer to use the flex and hammer strength plate loaders for stability. Occassionally i'll do squats on the smith machine for varietys' sake. _________________ It don't feel good till it hurts!! |

Needless to say, my legs are FRIED!! I always remind myself on leg day that i live in a friggin' townhouse and we have THREE flights of stairs . Hell, screw the stairs ,it's a bitch just to get up from the computer !! But what the hell, this is why we love doing it , right ? It's the non - hackers that can't take the pain that will never succeed.
I'm just glad that my gym has an elevator _________________ It don't feel good till it hurts!! |

Thanks newfie . Unfortunately , i've been out of work for about a month now , so the only real fringe benefit to that is now having the time to focus on my training and recovery. Going really low on my reps. With our income cut now, most of my protein comes from tuna fish, hardboiled egg whites and ramen noodles. I'm proving that it's enitely possible to bodybuild on a budget. _________________ It don't feel good till it hurts!! |
